As children arrive they are greeted warmly by their teachers and are given the
freedom to explore various learning activities. The activities are changed
frequently and include: playdoh, toys, musical instruments, blocks, books, dolls to feed and bathe, sand
and water for scooping and pouring, as well as manipulatives to provide
important practice for emerging fine-motor skills.
Circle time introduces an atmosphere that teaches children what to expect and
how to behave in a classroom setting. Children also have an opportunity to
explore music and the arts. They especially enjoy experimenting with paints,
brushes, fingers, sponges, and many other tools to foster their budding
creativity. Physical development is an integral part of our day. Children work
on gross motor skills: climbing, running, peddling tricycles, pushing and
driving, building with large blocks, throwing and bouncing balls, and special
activities and games.
There are 12 children in a class with 2 teachers and a floater who helps when
needed.
